The Hexachordia trio offers a fresh approach to early music. By combining music with the spoken word the trio aims to tell a story with each of their concert programmes. They believe that by placing music into context, Hexachordia brings both the historic period and the music itself to life. They recreate the instrumental flexibility that was a key feature in music-making at the time. The ability to play a number of different musical instruments along with the possession of a good singing voice was essential for professional musicians. Each of them, therefore, specialises in a range of instruments of this period, allowing them to perform a wide range of ensemble music in different instrumental and vocal combinations.
